Doe-Nothing Retreat
About This Rental
The sky at night is amazing and you are near many state parks and Shawnee National Park. You are also very near to multiple wineries that are on both the Shawnee Wine Trail and the Southern IL wine trail.
The home has a private back patio with hot tub, fire pit and bar. There is a large stocked kitchen and dining room, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and bonus room with a desk. Plenty of room for everyone. You can enjoy your coffee and sunrise on your front deck and move into the shade on the same deck when you are ready to get out of the sun and have an outdoor breakfast.
There are more deer than we can count most every morning, midday and evening in the backyard. Seems to be their neighborhood hangout. You can even feed them your leftover fruits and veggies!
If you have friends or family with an RV, there is a full hookup on the side of the house for anything under 30 feet. It will never be rented out to anyone but friends or family of the Doe-Nothing’s guests.
Also included with the rental is a boat slip just a quick walk down the street.
The space
- Washer and dryer located in the cabin.
- There are more deer than we can count most every morning, midday and evening in the backyard!

- Full RV hookup on the side of the house
- We provide coffee, creamer and sugar at the coffee bar which also doubles as a work station in the kitchen.
- We provide all bed linens and towels

Guest access
The Doe-Nothing Retreat is accessible up a short staircase with handrails, and is locked using an electronic keypad for your convenience. Please let us know if you have any questions or difficulties in using the keypad and we would be happy to assist!
Other things to note
- We accommodate all guests, but we ask that you please do not smoke inside the Doe-Nothing Retreat.
- We do offer wifi, and have rarely had complaints on the speed.
- You do have the entire cabin to yourself, and if you need space for more guests, let us know as we may have more space in our other rentals!
